Obituary For Mrs. Thelma Elizabeth Patterson

Mrs. Thelma Elizabeth Patterson, 85, of Mt. Hope, WV passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Thelma was born November 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Green and Catherine L. Green Gray.

Thelma attended Dubois High School, Mt. Hope, WV.

Thelma was a homemaker and was well known as a loving and caring person in Mt. Hope. She was also known as Ms. Walmart.

Thelma said, “she was sweet 16 and never been kissed”.

Thelma and Ms. Hazel Johnson (deceased) loved listening to Al Green and Barry White and was a Pittsburg Stealers fan.

Thelma, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Patterson Sr.; sons, Tony, Ronald, Donald, and James (Glen) Patterson and brother, Rufus Green.

Thelma leaves to cherish precious memories her children, Patricia, Velma Jean (Thomas), Darlene (Tom), Micheal (Sharee), all of Mt. Hope WV, Kenny (Iris) of Gulfport MS, Daniel (Marlena) of Petersburg, VA, and Brenda of Oak Hill, WV; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope with Bishop David Allen and Elder Thomas Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior.
