Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Thelma Jefferson McCluney, 92, of Lithonia, GA, formerly of Oak Hill, WV went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021 surrounded by her family after a long illness. Thelma was born on August 12, 1929 in Logan, WV to the late Johnny and Marie Martin Jefferson. She was raised in Boomer, WV before moving to Oak Hill, WV to raise her family. She then moved to Charlotte, NC and finally to Lithonia, GA. Thelma was a strong-willed woman who was a sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was soft-spoken, devoted to her family and friends and touched the lives of everyone around her. Thelma, in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James Jefferson and Alphonzo Jefferson; sisters, Ruby Jefferson, Edna Casey, Wilma Thompson, Doris Steed and Annie Jefferson; daughter, Brenda McCluney and great-grandson, Bryson McCluney. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Annie Wesley, Veronica Davis and Monica Sims of Lithonia, GA; she leaves behind six grandchildren, David McCluney and children (David and Maya); Andrea Berlowitz; Davina McCluney and child (Diamond); LaToya Wesley-Colm and wife, Emmanuelle Klossou-Colm; Andre` McCluney and children (Taj, Jayden, Kyra, Briana, Layla-unborn) and Jamil Sims; two sisters, Imogene (Edmond) Dingle and Glenda (Gary) Talamone; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, November 6 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Harlem Heights With Revs. Paul Baker Charles Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view one-hour prior.
