Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Theola Mae Coleman Echols, 95, of So. Charleston, formerly of Beckley, died Saturday, November 8, 2019.

Born June 29, 1924 in Lochgelly, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Margaret Garrett Coleman.

Mrs. Echols was an insurance agent, cook, senior citizens job coordinator and beautician. She was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church, an Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho and The Elks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lee Echols; brothers, Eddie and Charles Coleman; sister, Artelia Price and grandson, Donald Lee Thompson Jr.

Left to cherish precious memories are her children, Sandra Woods of So. Charleston and Tyrone (Tina Robinson) Echols of Daniels; special niece, Carolyn Wright of MD; special nephews, James (Faye) Coleman of TX, Ronald (Jacqueline) Coleman of WV, and James Coleman (Sylvester Henry) of FL; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church 305 Worley Road Beckley with Elder Michael McCray officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
