Obituary For Mrs. Virginia Loverine Whitlow

Mrs. Virginia Loverine Whitlow was born June 22,1925 to the late Johnny andAnnie Taylor Adams. Loverine was educated in Raleigh County and was a faithful member of the Morning Star Baptist Church.

Loverine was an avid shopper who loved to dress. She loved her family and was a big family person.

I have so many things to be thankful for in this life I have had on earth:

I was fortunate to be raised in a home that included loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was preceded in death by parents, Johnny, and Annie Taylor Adams; siblings, John Adams (Equila), Sylvester Adams (Clara), Cleivester Adams (Bertha), Henry Adams (Earnestine), Clementine Witten (Eugene) and Channie Buster (Robert); my dear grandson, Derek and my son-in-law, Reginald Coleman. We weren’t rich in material things, but we were wealthy beyond belief in family and love. Every holiday was a reason to get together and enjoy family.

In 1946, I married my beloved husband Raymond Whitlow, Jr. He was my friend, my sounding board, my love, and my conscience. He was the person who made everything so easy with his support and encouragement. He left in 2005 to save a place for me in heaven.

To this union, I was blessed with my greatest wish to become a mother. Thank you my beautiful and loving children, Ann Darlene Coleman, and Velma Jean Smyre. I hope you know how much joy you gave me and how much I loved you. You became more kind and more caring people than I have dared dream that you could be. The bonus for being a mom was getting to be a grandmother to Derek (he called me “Dorene”, Tiffany and Tara (Brian Landed) they called me “Peetie Pie” and two grand-dogs, Cocoa, and Eva. My grandchildren kept me young by gracefully putting up with my nagging about responsibility and all the life lessons I continually instilled in them.

I leave this earth with no regrets because I had everything I needed, the love of family and friends. I thank God that he gave me 98 years as one of his children.

I’ll see you all in heaven, later rather than sooner.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Monday, November 6, 2023 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Morning Star Baptist Church P.O. Box 524 Skelton, WV 25919

My name is Anna Morris-Smith. I was saddened to hear about Mrs. Loverine's passing. She was one the sweetest ladies I've met since I moved to WV. I used to do her hair & we had some of the most wonderful conversations. There was nothing off limits, we talked about everything from our past to our luv for GOD. She was such a precious soul. Her daughters were so attentive to her, making sure she had everything she needed. I will never forget Mrs.Loverine, I've missed out times together. Rest in peace sweet Lady.
