Obituary For Mrs. Yvonne Heath Cook

Mrs. Yvonne G. Cook, 62, of Beckley, died May 4, 2021. Yvonne was born August 27, 1957 in Beckley, she was the son of the late Warren and Alease Heath Scott. Yvonne was a graduate of Independence High School in Sophia, WV. She had many talents one was working with children. She was a day care worker for over 30 years and made an impact on so many young lives through this and loved all of them with a love that could not be described. Every child she came in contact with loved her and she never met one that she did not come to love. Yvonne was surrounded by a very loving family. She married her best friend however, when she married Donald D. Cook on June 17, 1974 in Beckley, WV and would have been married to him for 47 years in June of this year. She was the mother of one son, Dwayne A. Heath, who was raised by the two of them with love and support. Yvonne was a very caring person and loved children with all her heart. She was a kind, loving, and helpful person helping many who were in need. One thing she loved to do was to talk and sing about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is why it was God’s will for her to have a life of ministry alongside her husband being the First Lady of New Salem Baptist Church for over 34 years. She always participated in testimony service often times saying, “Truly time is winding up it’s almost time for my Savior to take us from labor to reward”. Yvonne, in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Heath, Warren Heath Sr., and Raymond Heath. Yvonne leaves to cherish precious memories her husband, Rev. Donald Cook of Beckley; son, Dwayne A. Heath of MacArthur, WV; sisters, Deloris (Al) Heath Waller of Sacramento, CA; Beatrice Heath (Joseph) Davis and Irene Heath (Frazier) Miller, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; adopted daughter, Shelia Carey of Beckley; three grandchildren, Nikki Carey, Jalen Mack and Justin Neal, all of Beckley; three great-grandchildren; a slew of cousins; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Tuesday May 11, 2021 at Sky Ministries 413 Maplewood Lane Beckley, with Rev. William Fruit officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
