Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Zenobia 'Nobie' Flynn, 81, of Beckley died Monday, January 15, 2018.

Born October 21, 1936 in Hillsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Roman Sr. and Margaret Phillips.

She worked for Board of Education for 20-plus years, was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Beckley, where she served on the Usher Board and participated in the Foster Grandparent Program at Beckley Stratton Elementary.

In 1960, she married the late John Flynn Sr.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Belinda Armstrong; sister, Geneva Harvey and five brothers, James, Charles, Ralph, Randolph, and Roman Phillips.

Left to cherish precious memories are her sons, John (Winette) Flynn and Darrell Flynn, both of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter, Rita (Reggie) Smith of Hampton, VA; brother-in law, June Flynn and sister-in-law, Leola Tolls, both of Cleveand, OH; eleven grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 142 Mool Avenue, Beckley, with Pastor Nelson Staples III officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
