Obituary For Ms. Alice G. Ambler
Ms. Alice Gertrude Ambler, 84, of Mount Hope, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Alice was born Friday, August 22, 1941 in Page, WV, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Rose Nell Pryor Ambler.
Alice attended DuBois High School until integration then was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Hope High School. She was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Ministry Pastor’s Aide Committee.
Alice loved watching her soap operas and was a catalog/QVC fashionista! She loved to order and wore fashionable clothing and beautiful jewelry. She was a wonderful cook. She also loved talking on the phone to family every single day. Every night after the last phone conversation ended (sometimes 1:00am or after), “she would say it’s time for me to do my Bible reading”. She spent time talking to, praying and praising God.
Alice, in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Thomas “Pete” Ambler; brother-in-law, Rev. Thomas L. Steelman; sisters-in-law, Esther Ambler and Gwen Ambler and daughter-in-law, Mary Ambler.
Alice leaves to cherish precious memories are her sons, Waymon (Cammile) Ambler of San Antonio, TX; twins, Mark Ambler of Beckley, WV and Marvin (Nicole) Ambler of Hope Mills, NC and Stacey (Mary) Ambler of China Grove, NC; brother, James “Lint” Ambler of Longwood, FL; sister, Jean Steelman of Mt. Hope, WV; special niece, Louise A. (Leonard) Powell of Glen Jean, WV and their children, Lindsay Powell and Tyrone Powell, who she took care of in their early years; grandchildren, Marquel, Jamar, Kristen, Matthew, Niana, Alicia, Alexis, and Shondayha; nieces, Gayle, Kisca and Toya Ambler; nephews, Karl Ambler, Valquez Davis, Juawann Ambler, and Zarnoff Dunlap; her United Missionary Baptist Church family; other cousins; relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at United Missionary Baptist Church 205 S. Fayette Ave. Mt. Hope, WV. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
