Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

On April 20, 2023, Alyssa Rhea Jones, beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend suddenly passed away at the age of 30.

Alyssa was born October 5, 1992, in Beckley, WV and grew up in Fayetteville, WV, before moving to Huntington, WV.

Alyssa was very intelligent, she graduated from the Mountaineer Challenge Academy at the age of 15.

Alyssa loved her family. She was especially excited when she became an aunt.

Alyssa was known to have a contagious personality that would light up a room. She was loving, friendly and God fearing. Any opportunity that Alyssa had she would advocate to others about drug addiction and how the love and mercy of the Lord could change your life.

Alyssa was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles E Hooper; step-father, Daniel J. Walling Jr., and aunt, Joycelyn Vaughn.

Alyssa, is survived by her mother, Cara E. (Hooper) Walling of Beckley, WV; father, Thomas L. Jones Jr. of Oak Hill, WV; siblings, Cayla R. Hooper, and Bella A. Walling, both of Beckley, WV; Thomas L. Jones III and Daniel J. Walling III, both of Beckley, WV; grandparents, Linda S. Hopkins of Fayetteville, WV, Constance Jones of Oak Hill, WV, and Thomas L. Jones Sr.; great-grandmother, Betty J. Hopkins of Fayetteville, WV; uncles, Charles E Hooper of Ann Arbor, MI, Tumcy Jones of Charleston, WV, and Michael A. Brooks of Salisbury, NC; cousins, Daryl Vaughn of Hurricane, WV, Travis Hopkins and Troy Hopkins, both of Fayetteville, WV, and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Friday, April 28, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 8687 Gatewood Rd. Fayetteville with Rev. Keith Walker officiating.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
