Obituary For Ms. Andrea Christine "Scooby" Wilson

Ms. Andrea Christine "Scooby" Wilson went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 17, 2020. Scooby, as she was affectionately known by friends and family, was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, cousin, relative and friend to so many. Scooby dedicated her life to loving her three daughters Joy, Jordan, and Jayda, along with her mother, Mildred and her grandson, Micah.

Scooby attended Oak Hill Elementary, Collins Middle School, and Oak Hill High School graduating in 1986. After high school, Scooby attended West Virginia University for a year before embarking on her professional career in the Washington, DC area. She then relocated back home to Greentown to care for her mother and raise her children. Like her grandfather, Scooby was an entrepreneur, founding 3 J's Child Care, where she loved and cared for kids. She loved her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to sacrifice her needs for those of her family, whom she adored. Scooby loved reading and always seemed to have a book she had just finished, or a new one she had just purchased. She also loved cooking and caring for others, and never missed an opportunity when family was visiting to offer to make a meal just like the old days as she was raised.

Scooby was preceded in death by her grandparents, Erskine and Ruby McGhee, Ben and Mary Lee Wilson, and her father, Homer Wilson.

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Wilson, her 3 loving daughters, Joy Wilson, Jordan McDonald, and Jayda Wilson, her grandson, Micah McDonald, her sister and brother-in-law, Alexia and Terry Hatley, and her brother and sister-in-law, Jason "Scotty" and Laura McGhee, and a whole host of uncles, cousins, nieces, and loving relatives.

Scooby will be dearly missed.

Her memorial service will be jointly held during the private visitation of her cousin, Mr. Dennis "Jake" Price Sr., at 11:00AM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel 748 S. Fayette St. Beckley.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, masks, gloves and social distancing will be required to attend the service.

Words cannot truly express the sorrow I feel at this loss. This amazing person and the amazing family have been at the core of my childhood. Often, when my Father would travel to Ohio to bring me to Greentown for the summer, I would exit his car to let Scooby, Scotty, and Carlton know I was there before I would even make it to see my own Grandmother Marie Redd. My family understood...and they never stopped me from doing so. That time has always been cherished and always will be. Marc Redd aka "Wendell's Son."

Scooby was a beautiful little chocolate baby. She always had "that" charming smile and soft voice. Want a taste of old times recipes known to Greens Town community (how about ground bologna salad)? Call her. She would say to me, sure, when are going to come by? Sending my Heart, Friendship and Prayers to Family.

Rev.Essie and myself are sending to the children as well as the entire family our deepest and most sincere condolences. She spoke with Pastor Ford on several occasions regarding things that troubled her. You can now take your rest from troubling and live in eternal rest with the Lord.

I remember the times Scooby would always be out the door to help a neighbor in need. She had a heart of gold and would do anything should could for anyone. So find peace in knowing that GOD was in need of this angel. He looked upon her and said, well done. So for all who have had to part with her, just know that in GOD's arms there is strength to hold you, grace to sustain you and love to carry you through until you meet again. May you find strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends. With Heartfelt Sympathy, Marlyn Newton
