Obituary For Ms. Arnetta Yvonne "Net" Jackson Bass

On Monday, August 19th, 2024, Arnetta Yvonne Bass was unexpectedly called to her eternal home. Although we didn't know it at the time, God needed her vibracious and unapologetic spirit more than we did.

Net was born on May 27, 1958 at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, WV to Oscar Mosley and Mattie Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar; twin siblings, Johnny and Joanie, brother, Everette Mundy Jr.; aunt, Elsie Jackson and uncles, James and Charles Jackson

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harlem Heights, where she was baptized and gave her life to Christ at an early age.
Net dedicated many years to a career she deeply cherished and excelled in. She taught elementary school at Kimberly Elementary School, Scarbro Elementary School, both in WV, and she taught
summer school at Hempstead Elementary School in NY.

“She may tell a secret but she will never tell a lie.” For those of us who had the honor of knowing and loving Net, there was never any question of who she was, how she felt, or what she was thinking. We loved her
for her bluntness, openness, honesty, but above all, her heart. Her home was a home to many, whom she welcomed with a home cooked meal and a few choice words. Without question, Net loved her family and her family loved her and will cherish her memory forever.

Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Mattie Jackson; her ‘Mama,’ Billie Jackson; daughter, Brandi Bass; grandchildren, Jalesea Bass and Desmond Mack; her significant other, Dennis Mack;
siblings, Tony Jackson, Andre Travis, Michael Munger, Cheryle Jackson, and Marcel Mundy; aunts, Josephine Jackson and Bernice Board; nieces and nephews, Tywan Jackson, Cornelius Jackson,
William Jackson, Tia Jackson, Natalie Jackson, and Desiree Hughes,
and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, August 30, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Harlem Heights 416 Broadway Ave. Oak Hill, WV with Rev. Charles Blackmon and Rev. Shannon Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.

    I graduated with Arnetta in 1976 from Collins High School. Even after all these many years, I still remember her big smile and her laugh-out-loud laugh she had. She was someone, if you were her friend, she had your back. I've not seen her in many years, but I'll never forget her. My condolences to her family who was blessed to have her in their lives.
