Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Our beautiful daughter and sister, Ashleigh Nicole JoAnn Lawson went home to be with God on Saturday, July 2, 2022 of a short illness. Ashleigh was born on June 8, 1987 to Cassandra Lawson and Patrick Smith.

Ashleigh received Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and she loved God.

Ashleigh was a very selfless person and loved giving to others. She wanted to make a difference in the world by doing anything she could to help humanity.

Ashleigh took great pride in being a great mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and aunt. Ashleigh was so loving and kind to everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, dancing, laughing and binge watching British shows.

Ashleigh graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 2005. She went on to attend WV State University. She worked for The City of Charleston as a Waste Management Coordinator before continuing her education at Marshall University. She later attended Bridge Valley College where she was Valedictorian of her class. She graduated in 2014 with a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. Ashleigh worked at Charleston Area Medical Center as a Clinical Laboratory Science Med Tech where she took great pride in her work up until her illness.

Ashleigh, in addition to her son; Riley Frey, was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Stephen and JoAnn Lawson.

Ashleigh “Caker” leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter, Kayleigh Frey of Charleston, WV; mother, Cassandra Lawson Lewis of Beckley, WV; brother, Christopher (Jordan) Lawson of Beckley, WV; uncles, Steve (Patreese) Lawson of Beckley, WV and Marvin (Laurie) Lawson of Augusta, GA; aunt, Stephanie Robinson of Beckley, WV, as well as many cousins, two nieces, other family and friends, and a special friend, Nigel (Calvin) Frey.

Family directed memorial service will be 12:00PM Monday, July 11, 2022 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley.
