Obituary For Ms. Betty Jo Owens

Ms. Betty Jo Owens was born March 11, 1945 in Whipple, WV, to the late Clyde and Josephine (McKinney) Owens. She transitioned from this earth to be with our Lord on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Hospice of Southern WV, Beckley.

Betty Jo, in her youth, attended Mt. Hope High School. After her education, she relocated to New York, where she worked as a Home Care Attendant. Years later, due to her love and devotion for family, she moved back to Mt. Hope, WV to provide care for her elderly parents. As the years passed, she also helped care for her sister, Shirley and Nancy and brother, Willie, when they all became ill. The love and devotion she held for her family, combined with a love for children, led her to help raise her nieces and nephews.

Betty Jo, in addition to her father and mother, was preceded in death by older sisters, Norma Jean Owens and Shirley Ann Harless and youngest brother, Willie O. Owens.

Betty Jo leaves to cherish precious memories her brothers, Clyde D. Owens Jr. (Mary) of Joliet, IL, George J. Owens of Queens, NY, Charles W. Owens of Farrockaway, NY, and Kenneth Owens (Cathey) of Columbus, G; sisters, Nancy E. Sally of Mt. Hope, WV and Joan E. Johnson (Lengard Johnson) of Mt. Hope, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel 748 S. Fayette St. Beckley with Bishop Benjamin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckey.
