Obituary For Ms. Christy Ann Pankey
Ms. Christy Ann Pankey departed this life Monday, June 2, 2025. She was born March 3, 1952 and was the daughter of the late Eleanor Ruth Pankey and Richard Arnold Pankey. She was preceded in death by her beloved aunt and uncle, Christina (Leroy) Johnson) of Baltimore, MD; sister and ROCK, Tressie (Grover) Hardy; sister and brother-in-law Betty (Jenkins) Fulton and baby brother David Pankey.
Following the untimely passing of her mother when she was an infant, Christy was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, who accepted the responsibility of her upbringing. In 1960, this devoted family relocated to Baltimore, MD, where she received her education through the Baltimore City Public School System. Christy was an active and valued member of her church community, participating in the choir and attending Sunday school regularly. Her Aunt Christina played a pivotal role in introducing her to God and His son, Jesus, a foundational influence for which Christy expressed deep gratitude throughout her life.
Christy went on to make a significant impact during her career in the medical field beginning in the early 1980s, driven by her desire to help heal others. In addition to her numerous professional achievements, she will be fondly remembered for her deep love for family and friends, her diverse passions, and her commitment to her crafts. Christy had a remarkable ability to give quietly and selflessly from her heart.
Renowned for her culinary talents, she was particularly celebrated for frying the best hot fried chicken and creating delightful desserts that brought joy to many. Anyone fortunate enough to have known Christy understood the extent of her kindness, the profound care she had for others, and her dedication to enhancing her communities. As we honor her memory, we are reminded of the significance of living a life filled with compassion and purpose. Christy's legacy serves as a powerful testament to the enduring impact of love, kindness, and the communities she so passionately succor. Her memory will remain a source of inspiration for all who were touched by her life.
Family left to cherish precious memories are her two daughters, Terra Pankey of Baltimore Maryland, Lindsen Pankey and (granddaughter) Lacee Harper of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. Her beloved brothers: Michael (Betty) Pankey, Irvin (Marceita) Pankey, Robert (Rosa) Pankey, all of Southern Maryland, Russell Pankey of Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her beloved sisters: Norma Jean Braxton (Sissy) of Harvey, West Virginia, Sharain Pankey and Candice Pankey, both of Beckley, West Virginia, Christine Wells of Southfield, Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.
Family, friends, and colleagues will come together to commemorate her life and pay tribute to her cherished memory at the memorial service, which will be held at a later date.
