Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

On Friday, November 26, 2021, Clara Mae Poore of Oak Hill, WV left her earthly bonds.

Born July 1, 1936 in Fayetteville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Lee and Lena Pearl Poore.

She received her education in the public school system; attending Fayetteville Grade School and DuBois High School. Clara worked as a domestic worker in Brooklyn, NY. Clara also lived in Pittsburgh, PA before moving back home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Poore; daughter, Theresa Poore; stepmother, Daisy Poore; brother, Leslie Stewart; sisters, Marion Jackson, Elizabeth Wright and Gail Staunton.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her son, Jerry (Francine) of Philadelphia; daughter, Arvella of MD; brothers, William (Sarah) of Charlotte, NC; Clarence (Danita) of Suffolk, VA; sisters, Lena Lewis of Ansted; Claudia Davis of Oak Hill; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be 12:00PM Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Fayetteville with Rev. Herman James officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Friends, while wearing mask and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service at the church.
