Obituary For Ms. Coretta Leftwich

The Father’s Garden is full of beautiful flowers. He walks through and plucks those whom he loves. On June 18, 2024, Coretta joined the Lord's bouquet.

Coretta was born on March 18,1980 in Beckley, WV. She was the second child born to Robert “Cotton” and Sheila “Rita” Swain Leftwich.

Coretta attended Crescent Elementary, Stratton Junior High School and Woodrow Wilson High School, where she maintained lifelong friendships. She played baseball and volleyball.

Coretta’s most proud achievement was her job. She was a trainer for Modivcare, LLC for 4 years. She was so excited about her growth in the company.

Coretta never met a stranger. If she was in the room everyone knew it. She was the life of the party. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her friends and family playing cards, going out and just having a good time. She also loved outdoor activities, riding her motorcycle and her sea doo.

Coretta was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Leroy and Etta Vene Leftwich; maternal grandparents, Frank and Fannie Swain; uncles, Richard Swain, Floyd Swain, Gary Leftwich and Alphonso Swain; aunt, Etta ”Linda” Pharms; great-grandmother, Beatrice Leftwich; special cousins, Crystal Swain, Mechelle Pharms, James Swain and Cameron Leftwich.

Coretta, in addition to her parents, leaves to cherish her memory her son, Carlos (Jordan); daughter, Fatimah (Warren); siblings, Brian Hosea and Gage “Tyson” Leftwich; nephews, Anthony Hosea, Jaxxon Hosea and Demarian Staunton; uncles, Leroy and Daryl (Kim); aunts, Roxanne (Butch) Taggart and Charlene Williams, both of Winder, GA and Hulda Swain (Billie) of Beckley, WV; godson, Javon; special cousin, Pauline Parker of Indianapolis, IN; special cousins, Robbie and Dondi; childhood friend,“they were like Thelma and Louise” Teresa Branham; special friends, Shawn Randall and Corey Walton; the father of her children, Corey Easterling; along with a host of cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Elder Leo Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.

Coretta was a very amazing soul that I wish I could have spent more time with. When I first got to the training department, she greeted me with open arms and made me feel instantly accepted. She had a way of lightening the mood during stressful times and making everyone feel valued and appreciated. I'll never forget the times we spent together and how we'd call each other just to chat, especially when we were having rough days. Her bubbly personality and infectious laughter were contagious, particularly when someone cracked a joke during our classes.Although the time I knew her was short I will never forget her, she has made a very huge impact on me in just a few months and for that I will always be forever grateful for her help. Losing Coretta was more than losing a coworker; it was losing a dear friend. Even though she's gone, I'll keep her memory alive in my heart.
