Obituary For Ms. Deloris LeJune Martin Kidd
Ms. Deloris LeJune Martin Kidd, also known as “Junnie”, 81 of Beckley passed Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Bowers Hospice House.
Deloris “Junnie” Kidd was born June 25, 1943 to the late Edward Peg Martin and Helen Webb in Beckley, WV. Until recently she owned the exact bed that she was born in.
Deloris graduated from The Stratton High School where she participated in band, was a member of the Thespians and voted Ms. Stratton High School in 1962. She later returned as the President of the Stratton High School Reunion Committee where she served for several years.
Deloris, after high school, attended nursing school at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital before starting her family. She served many jobs; Beckley Manufacturing, American Heart Association, Beckley Newspapers, WSWP-TV and the WV Lottery.
Deloris was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Beckley and the Black Diamond Girl Scout Council among many others. She was an avid sports fan and was often seen at all of her kid’s sporting events. Until her health started to fail her, she never missed a Woodrow Wilson basketball or football game.
Deloris attended several churches, but was last a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church where she always had some sort of candy for the kids, especially Brandon.
Deloris, in addition to her father, was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elizabeth “Mama” Webb.
Deloris leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Helen of Beckley; sister; Wanda Martin of Columbus, OH; two sons; Stephen of Beckley, WV and David (Tiffany) of Lawrenceville, GA; nephews, Charles and Kevin of Columbus, OH; three grandkids, DJ, Lexi, and Mason; great-grandchildren, Amourer and Meeko Sharp, and Alani Sky Barrier-Jones; special family and friends, Wilma Jackson, Leslie Wiggins, Beverly “Baby Sis” Strayhan, Teenie Fortune, Kristen Staples Anderson, Susan Martin, Brandon Leftwich, Trey Longoria, Angelo Reiser, Asia Martin, Norma Parker, Ted Anderson, and Toya Kidd; lastly our family, The Martins of Cleveland, Detroit and Washington DC, the Fralins, the Kidds and the Brooks.
Funeral service will be 2:00PM Sunday, August 11, 2024 at St. Paul Baptist Temple 129 Rice St. Beckley with Rev. Walter M. Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.
