Obituary For Ms. Ella Mae Gore
March 27, 1948, was the day God graced the world with an angel named, Ella Mae Gore. Her journey began in the small town of Brooklyn, WV, born to the late Lonnie Gore Sr. and Florence Ayers. She was the twelfth of thirteen siblings. She was called home to be with our Lord and walk with the angels on Friday, June 18, 2021. Ella, in 1948, with her family relocated to Glen Jean, WV after a fire destroyed their home. From then on, Ella lived in the same home, known to all as “the Pink House.” Ella was an exceptional mother, many considered her their surrogate mother. She was a compassionate spirit who cared deeply for her children, family, and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Her favorite things to do were taking care of others, cooking, baking and doing hair for her daughters, granddaughters, and the neighborhood girls in her kitchen. Her cooking ability was a testament of her love, as any of us who ate her home cooked meals (especially her rolls and sweet potato pies) could attest to. Ella was quick with the switch and then asked you if you wanted something to eat! Ella, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by five sisters, Josephine Gore, Irene Clemmons, Alberta Mosley, Juanita Fox and Janice Pittman and four brothers, Bennie Ayers, Lonnie Jr., Herbert, and Wilbert Gore. Ella leaves to cherish her memory, four loving children, Robin “Rob” (Jackie) Gore, Fabian “Fay” Gore, Lavette Gore, and Carmen Gore; second mom to Terry Gore and James Loving; two sisters, Ardelia Brown and Mary Gore; one brother, Robert Gore; eight grandchildren, Ebone Gore-Gray, Robin Gore Jr., Brandie Gore, Ty Gore, Brianna Gore, Chris Gore, Gaby Alcantara-Gore, and Damian Gore; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral service will be 1:00PM Monday, June 28, 2021 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Glen Jean 469 Collins Hill Rd. Glen Jean with Rev. Richard Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
