Obituary For Ms. Eva Humphries

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many transitioned to her eternal home on October 3, 2024 after a long illness.

Eva Mae was born September 2, 1945 and raised in the East Park community of Beckley, WV; moving to Toledo, OH after marrying. She returned home to Beckley many years later to assist in the care of her ailing mother. Eva was called to the ministry 20 years ago and has been the assistant pastor, under the direction of her best friend, Bishop Eunice Jones, for 15 years at God’s House of Miracles. In addition to serving as assistant pastor she was president of the Women’s Department, assisted in the Feed My Sheep and Feed My Lambs ministry, president of the
choir and a multitude of other services. Her homelife and Christian life were one in the same; she lived a life of labor and service, cooking and keeping an immaculate house of God and home. When she fell ill, she chose to live with her youngest son, Lee and daughter-in-law, Misti, who remained her faithful caregivers until God called her home.

Eva loved the Lord above all else as well as her children and grandchildren. There are no words to properly describe the selfless lady Eva was, she will remain in our hearts, remembered for the many lives she touched through her presence and telling everyone she met “God loves you and so do I”.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Sallie and William; three sisters, Jeanie, Linda, and Cynthia, as well as two grandchildren, Jamia and Travis.

Eva is survived by her two sons, Greg (Amy) Hall of Ft. Wayne, IN and Lee (Misty) Thomas of Beckley, WV. In addition to her sons, she is survived by two brothers, Don and William; two sisters; Mary and Sharon; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her special life-long friend, Rev. Onnie Cook, who remained by her side as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Eunice Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Bowers Hospice House 921 W. Neville St. Beckley, WV 25801 or 454 Cranberry Dr. Beckley, WV 25801.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern WV and her nurses Amanda, Stephanie, and Kayla.

Our precious Elder Humphries heard the voice of her heavenly Father calling her and she knew it was time to go home and she went running. This is what she worked so diligently to achieve, eternal life with her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. So, she held out her arms and a loving kind and wonderful God received her unto Himself. She is at home now where there is peace that passes all understanding, and love beyond compare. Home where the wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest. Her life and her legacy encourages all who dare to step out into the deep and follow Jesus, to trust Him with all thine heart and He will lead you home. May God Bless you, The Incorporation, Bishop Sue Heartwell, Pastor B

2 Timothy 4: 5-8 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

To know Eva Mae is to Love her. She's trustworthy, encouraging, works diligently, strong, well prepared, generous, brave, resourceful, wise, and well thought of, But more importantly she fears the Lord...Proverbs 31-10-31 Eva is " A Virtuous Woman"..who made everyone around her feel welcomed and valued. Who made her Family feel safe and cared for. She was very quick to help someone in need without seeking gain or reward because her hands were extensions of God"s Love and compassion. She was a kind of woman who is mindful of the poor and needy who gave to her community. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. "Ms.Mae" .. I am a better Woman because I was graced with your presence in my life for almost 20 years. I will miss your beautiful smile and your humble spirit around the table for holidays and Birthdays. Rest peacefully. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER! ❤️🌹—Beverly

To my dearest good family I was so sorry to read about the death of your love one. She is sleeping to get her rest now, she fought a good fight to the end of her journey. She is free no longer bonded. She was a good Christian lady fighting for her life. She have won the fight and the victory of the good Savior. She live the life she confessed in to the very end of her anointed time. She was a living testimony of her life she lived. Gone but not forgotten. Praying for the family and you all strength in the Lord. Hold to God unchanging hand forever. He there with his hands wide open for his children. The Lord loved her and he love you all to. God is good all the time. My deepest regard and thoughts to the family. Henrietta Renae Mahan
