Obituary For Ms. Janice Marie Woody

Mrs. Janice Marie Lawson Woody, 73, of Beckley, WV died Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Janice was born August 30, 1952 in Beckley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Phillip and Anna Belle Thompson Lawson.

Janice graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill; she was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a housekeeper at the VA Hospital.

Janice, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woody and brothers, Jessie and Robert.

Janice leaves to cherish precious memories are her children, James (Tanika) Woody and Jason Woody both of Beckley, WV; brothers, James (Fannie)Thompson of Upper Marlboro, MD; Bradford Gwinn of New Hampton, GA; grandchildren, Janessa Woody, Ci’Anna Moore, O’Shyana Moore, D’ Montrayl Moore, De’Zion Moore; sisters, Phyllis Pannell of Cleveland, OH; Alfreda Lawson of Beckley, WV; close friend, Brenda “Redd” Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 12:30PM Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may view and visit with the family from 11:00PM-12:00PM at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.
