Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Ms. Lisa Ann Whittenburg, 52, of Charleston, formerly of Beckley, was called home to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Monday, February 21, 2022 at CAMC General after a long illness.

Born February 19, 1970 in Beckley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ms. Gladys J. Whittenburg.

Lisa’s formative education was in Beckley, WV as well as attending WVSU/ Charleston Campus in 2004. She worked at the West Virginia State Capital in a variety of administrative positions as well as H & R Block in Charleston, WV until chronic health issues prohibited. Lisa accepted Christ at an early age. Her life was centered around her beloved son, Malik, her family and her close friends. Our Lisa shared in her family’s great sense of humor and infectious smile. “She was beautiful”.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dwight “Pedro” Ricks, Leodonus “Leo” Whittenburg and Roy P. Whittenburg; four uncles, James, Douglas, Lucious and Joe Dean Whittenburg, all of Gaffney, SC.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her beloved son, Mailk Armond Tyler of Charleston, WV; two brothers, Francis (Peggy) Whittenburg of Gaffney, SC and Samuel “Nick” Whittenburg of Beckley, WV; five sisters, Brenda Whittenburg Halsey of Gaffney, SC, Christine “Punchie” Gallman of Chester, SC, Diane (Joseph) Johnson, Gloria (Rushon) Ricks-Colvin and Judy (Larry Sr.) Patterson, all of Beckley, WV and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
