Obituary For Ms. Lois Heath
Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Ellen “Libby” Johnson Heath, 82, of Beckley, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Libby was born on September 23, 1942, the third of thirteen children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Herman A. Heath; son, Kelvin B. Heath; daughter, LaToya M. Heath; parents, Samuel W. Johnson and Amanda C. Johnson (Colvin); two sisters, Leala M. Johnson and Lori K. Johnson; and two brothers, Charles E. Johnson and Orville B. Johnson.
Libby leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Tari Benson of Columbia, SC , Teresa Heath, Tracie Heath, Pauline Heath, Schenille (Richard) Swain, and a special son, Frankie (Brenda) Brown, all of Beckley, WV; six brothers, Samuel W. Johnson Jr., Theodore B. Johnson, Gilbertto A. Johnson (Lisa), Alphonso D. Johnson, Jonathan N. Johnson, and Selwyn G. Johnson; and two sisters, Beatrice Morrow and LeVette R. Brown; grandchildren, LaToya McNulty, Kenya Heath, DawnSha Heath, DeAndra (Zane) House, Raquel Swain, Carl Waldron, Tarin Benson, Keith Heath Sr., Kelly Heath, Semaj’ Shannon, David Heath, Roman Swain, Rio Swain, and a special grandson, Deveron Patterson; great-grandchildren, Amelia Heath, Karman House, Hazel Shortt, Amelia Shannon, Keith Heath Jr., Aamir Heath, Aiden House, Avery Patterson, and Roslynn Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Libby dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a patient aid advocate, an in-home childcare provider, and served as a patient liaison at Raleigh General Hospital. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate
Family - she was a foster mother for over 30 years, offering love, support, and stability to countless children in need.
Libby, a woman of steadfast faith, was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years and later continued her spiritual journey with First Baptist Church of North Beckley. She found joy in singing, serving, and sharing the word of God. Her greatest passion was her family, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Libby will be remembered for her selflessness, strength, compassion, and devotion to her community. Her life was a
living example of faith in action. She will be deeply missed by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family,
church family, and dear friends who will forever cherish the love and memories she gave so freely.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, June 13, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church
142 Mool Ave. Beckley with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Staples and Rev. James Cox officiating.
Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.
