Obituary For Ms. Madeline Y. Allen

Ms. Madelene Y. Allen, 71 of Beckley, WV formerly of Mt. Hope earned her wings on Saturday, December 11, 2021 following a long illness. Born October 31, 1950 in Mt. Hope, WV, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Dorothy L. Brown Allen Sr. Madelene Allen was a Class of 1970 Mt. Hope High School graduate, she attended WV Tech and Marshall University, where she was awarded with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s in Social Studies. She dedicated her life to the love of teaching for thirty-three years starting her career at Pax Elementary School, then Mt. Hope Middle School and retired from Mt. Hope High School. Madelene was an active member of Faith Temple of Deliverance Church, Beckley, where she formerly served as president of the Women’s Department and was a choir member. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia P. Allen. Madelene’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children and family, son, Corneilus “Todd” Allen of Huntington; daughter, Shawna L. Allen of Beckley; honorary son, James A. Booker of Beckley; honorary daughter, Jedda L. Owens of Beckley; brothers, James P. Allen Jr., Raymond A. Allen, Leroy A. Allen, and Ronald M. Allen, all of Beckley, Robert (Melonie) Allen of Zion, IL; sisters, Loretta Dews and Elizabeth Allen, both of Beckley and Angela (Michael) Phares of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Robin Gore of Mabscott; Direick Allen and Lionel Jordan, both of Beckley, Cylis Q. Allen of Huntington, Nymeria Jordan and Misa Allen, both of Beckley; great-grandchild, Elias F. Gore and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Madelene’s beautiful life will be forever cherished by her children and family.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Faith Temple of Deliverance 119 Deegans St. Beckley with Bishop Bob Tunstalle officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
