Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Ms. Margarette Jenkins, 96, of Beckley, WV died Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

Born November 25, 1919 in Logan, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Maggie Harris Jenkins.

Ms. Jenkins grew up in Beckley, WV with one brother, Drewie Jenkins and two sisters, Mildred Simmons and Lucille Morehouse. She stayed in New York, NY for two years, after which time she chose to return to Beckley, where she was a beautician and lived the next 73 years. Ms. Jenkins was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Drewie Jenkins and sister, Lucille Morehouse.

Left to cherish precious memories are her sister, Mildred Simmons; nephew, William (Christine) Simmons; two great-nephews, Evan and Drew Simmons; great-niece, Dianne Simmons; great-great-niece, Dayanna Blackwell and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12 noon, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at New Hope Baptist Church, 304 Worley Road, Beckley, WV with Rev. Nathaniel Carey officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
