Obituary For Ms. Maria “Pud” Jamison
Mrs. Maria “Pud” Jamison went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2023, in Charlottesville, VA.
Maria was born on June 22, 1969, in Montgomery WV, to the late James and Mary Evans.
Maria, affectionately known by many as “Pud”, was a fun, loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Maria spent her early years growing up in Page, WV. It was during this time that she participated in Oak Hill track and cheerleading, two sports that she loved. Her family would eventually move to Baltimore, MD where she would finish school.
Maria had a gift for serving others and was known for her fun and loving personality.
Maria, after graduating from Woodlawn High School in Baltimore, MD, went to serve her country in the United States Army. After serving in the military, she moved back to WV, where she became a License Practical Nurse for almost 30 years and served as a travel nurse where her warm, welcoming personality was known to many coworkers who soon became friends and family. For enjoyment, she could be found playing bingo with the family. Knowing her meant knowing you would experience love and laughter. She loved God and loved her family.
Maria, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her nephew and niece, James Evans and Ashley Hicks; grandparents, Willie and Lilly Hoston, and James and Elsie Browder.
Maria leaves to cherish her memories her children, Cherish (John) Lewis, Radiance (Douglas) Staunton, Kendell (Autumn) Jamison, PFC Christopher Evans, and Timothy Goard, Jr.; grandchildren, Zariyah Staunton, Aniyah Staunton, and John Lewis IV; brother, Stephen (Angie) Nicholas of York, SC; sisters, Mary (Lil Mary) Evans of Catonsville, MD, Elissa Hoston of Baltimore, MD, and Carmen (Kevin) Evans of Beckley, WV; aunts, Elizabeth Goard of Catonsville, MD, Drema Browder and Lillian (Tyrone) Martin, both of Oak Hill, WV; nieces and nephews, Sydni Darden, Kevin Edmonds, Jr., Camren Edmonds, Brianna Hoston, Ryan Hoston, and SGT Johnathan (Nakiva) Hoston; special cousins, Kimberly, Tiffney, and Lori; boyfriend: Tim Smith; friend and ex-husband, Van Jamison and a host of other friends and family.
As per her request, she has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Family directed Celebration of Life Party will be 1:00PM - 4:00PM Monday, July 24, 2023 at Stephens Lake Pavilion 1400 Lake Stephens Rd. Beckley
