Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Ms. Mary Elizabeth Bowden, 70, of Oak Hill passed away on September 15, 2023, at Raleigh General Hospital. Elizabeth, “known as Liz to those close to her” was born in Lorain, Ohio on October 22, 1952.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Silas and Flora Wheeler of Oak Hill, whom she was very close to; stepfather and mother, Paul and Betty Rochelle of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, she loved her mother dearly.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories her son, Jason (Jennifer) Smith of Mt. Hope, WV; grandchildren, Levi and Alexis Smith, who she loved very much and was very proud of; great-grandchildren, Addison and Sophia Smith; sister, Sandra “Tom” Hudie of MI, whom she loved so much and enjoyed when she came to the mountain state to see her; two nephews, Ryan and Matthew Hudie, who she loved and was proud of; great-niece and great-nephew, Noah and Layla Hudie; she will also be missed by her brother, David Rochelle of TN, who she worked with in the sawmill; a very special friend who took care of her named Keith, whom she loved; a good friend Evelyn of Beckley and Bear, her little dog that she loved and will miss her dearly.

Elizabeth will be missed by all those who knew her she was a loving, wonderful, generous person, nana, and mother.

As per her request, she has been cremated. No service will be held at this time. Family and friends will have a Remembrance of Elizabeth’s life at a later date.
