Obituary For Ms. Micki Lynn Curry Oba

Ms. Micki L. Curry Oba, 64, of Beckley, WV formerly of Mt. Hope, WV, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Beckley Healthcare Center, Beckley, WV.

Micki was born on April 30, 1959, in Beckwith, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Russell and Ruth Curry Wheeler.

Micki was a 1977 Mt. Hope High School Graduate and a majorette. She started working at an early age and always held various management positions. Micki was a loving mother, sister, aunt, friend and a wonderful grandmother.

Micki loved having gatherings at her home and cooking her delicious fried chicken and other delicious foods for her friends and family.

Micki accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior later in life and was baptized along with others from the Methodist Church of Mt. Hope, WV.

Micki, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her brother, Richard S. Curry; sister, Robin Wheeler Mann; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Georgia Curry; paternal grandmother, Mazie Wheeler Nicholas; uncles, Joe Louis Curry and Rainell P. Lane Sr. and niece, Toshema Curry.

Micki leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters, Teneisha Curry and Ashlei Oba, both of Beckley, WV; two brothers, Jeff (Joanne) Curry of Fountain, CO and Henry (April) Wheeler of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Stephanie (Robert) Hicks of Oak Hill, WV; grandsons, Joseph Curry, Tre’ King, and Aspyn Oba of Beckley, WV; granddaughter, G’yanna King of Beckley, WV; great-grandson, Amari Hayner; aunts, Josephine Lane of Rochester, NY and Jean Harbin of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law, Mark Mann Sr of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Janice Curry of Richmond, VA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Family directed memorial service will be 11:00AM Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope, WV with Elder Robert Hicks officiating.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
