Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Ms. Patricia Elaine Newsom, also known as Nana Pat Newsom, was the second born to the union of Joshua Newsom and Lillian Newsom on November 14, 1942 in Stafford, WV.

Patricia attained her high school diploma from Mt. Hope High School. After moving to Providence, RI, she received her degree from OIC Community college.

In 1965, she officially moved to the Chad Brown area Providence, RI. This is where she raised 6 beautiful children. After raising her children, she moved back to Oak Hill, WV to take care of her mother. After her mother passed, she eventually moved to Columbus, Oh where she settled.

Besides raising her family, she enjoyed, taking care of her grandchildren, dancing, playing the lottery, bowling, crocheting and being on Facebook. One of her biggest enjoyments was entertaining people and giving words of wisdom. She always ended her conversation with God Bless and take care love Nana Pat.

Patricia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Joshua and Lillian Newsom; loving son, Thomas Andrew Newsom; grandson, Thomas Andrew Tunstall Newsom; great-grandson, Ce’Marlo Fletcher; brothers; Audrey William, Joshua, Charles, Edwin, Eddie, Ronnie, Arron, Felipe, and James. Patricia leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Sheryl Newsom, Jerome Terry, Maurice Newsom, and Teresa Terry, all of Columbus, OH and Wayne Newsom of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Ronnie, Roger, Dana, and Timothy Newsom of WV; and Dwight Newsom of MD; sisters, Betty Nicholes, Jostina Thomas and Regina Harris, all of OH, Brenda Avery of RI and Lillian Alberty of MI, Sheila Marion of MD, Sharon Newsom of PA and Elana Newsom of WV; aunt, Margaret Jackson of WV, 37 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Tuesday December 21, 2021 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
