Obituary For Ms. Patsy Marie Moore

Today we honor and celebrate the life of a loving Mother, Patsy Marie Moore, who was affectionately known to her family and friends as, “Pat”.

Pat was born in Heath Springs, SC on July 3, 1936, daughter of the late Adam and Marie Glass.

Pat accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.

Pat grew up in Wyco, WV and attended Conley High School in Mullens, WV. She was united in marriage to John Lee Moore, Sr. and was blessed with two sons while living in NY. Pat relocated back to Raleigh, WV and pursued a career in nursing.

Pat graduated, as a Licensed Practical Nurse on September 6, 1973, from Raleigh County Vocational Technical Center at Memorial Baptist Church, Beckley, WV. She was employed at Pinecrest Sanitarium, Beckley, WV, now known as Jackie Withrow Hospital. She started her nursing career as an LPN at Southern West Virginia Clinic, Beckley, WV and was later employed at Beckley Clinic for Heart Disease (Dr. Salvatore Pecoraro). She worked many years at Charles Porterfield, D.O. Pulmonology Clinic before retiring in 2022.

Pat developed life-long friends that she considered family, and she was loved by her patients and co-workers.

Pat was an amazing Mother, who loved her family, and they loved her. She was known throughout the community for her friendliness and her ability to interact with others. She was a passionate cook and was famous for her yeast rolls and cakes.

Pat attended First Baptist Church and was active in church and well loved by the Pastor and church family.

Pat had a sudden illness and was hospitalized in Beckley, WV, and transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Charlotte, NC to be closer to family while recovering. Her health took a turn for the worse and her eternal life began on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Atrium Health CMC Hospital, Charlotte, NC.

Pat, in addition to her father, Adam Glass and mother, Marie Glass, was preceded in death by her special friend, Philip White; brother, Luther Patterson; cousins, Bernice Hilliard and Bobby Walker; honorary daughter, Deborah J. White and honorary sister, Lynn Edwards.

Pat leaves to cherish loving memories her sons, John Lee (Deborah Ann) Moore Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Terrance D. For some of the fondest memories of my early life, Ms. Pat was there. Vividly I can hear the water from creek behind her house while hiding playing "night tag" with my cousins and other kids down in Raleigh. Or the time we watched Doug Williams become the 1st Black Quarterback to win a Super Bowl in your living room so excited. We even roasted a whole entire pig in your backyard and probably came close to burning your house down in the process lol. So many memories but what I'll take away the most were your warm, pleasant smile and how you gave the best hugs. God bless you Ms. Pat and Thank you God for sending you our way. Love, Rocky

For your kindness, GOOD your cooking and homemade chocolate candies, thank you! Ms. Pat took the sting out of visiting West Va after Grandaddy White passed and Memorial Day weekend turned into a more somber occasion. Pat wasn't having that🙂She'd have a southern buffet ready for us complete with Sweet Tea and her homemade cakes. It was like old times and we thank you. My condolences to the host of friends and family who will miss this sweet lady. Thank you for the extra pounds!
