Obituary For Ms. Revella "Repy" Harbison

Ms. Revella Harbison of Beckley, WV, affectionally known as “Repy”, was born on May 14, 1941, in Stotesbury, WV to Roosevelt and Gertrude Kidd. She passed Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

Revella was a graduate of Stratton High School. She retired from Raleigh General Hospital where she held the title of Dietary Supervisor. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, Beckley, WV.

Revella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert K. Harbison; sisters, Mary Leola Kidd, Theresa Brandon, and Eloise Kidd and grandson, Justin Straughter.

Revella leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Teresa Straughter and husband, Karl of Charleston, WV; sons, Ron Kidd and wife Tammy of Beckley, WV and Shawn Harbison of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, twin, Mozella Kidd and Gertrude Nettles-Waller of Beckley WV; brothers, Norman Kidd of Beckley, WV and William Millard Kidd of Vallejo, CA; grandsons, Anthony Williams, Lansing MI; Bryndan Kidd and wife, Heather of Huntington, WV; Karl Lee Straughter and wife, Stefany of Charleston, WV; London Straughter of Charleston, WV; granddaughters, Alexis Kidd of Beckley, WV; Tara Harbison and Zanya Price of Oak Hill, WV; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, August 15, 2025 at Welcome Baptist Church 206 Eighth St. Beckley with Pastor Gloria J. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.

My heartfelt sympayhy goes out to the family. Repy will be missed in the community. She showed and shared her loved for God with everyone she came in contact with. Repy volunteered at the commumity center along with her sister Mopie and Norman to volunteered helping with activities, encouraging and serving the kids lunch and snacks during the summer day camps and afterschool programs. Norman also, volunteered teaching the kids to play golf. Repy will be missed. I am grateful for having known her and her family of servants.

I will truly miss my Aunt Repy! As a twin to my Aunt Mopey, I have always thought of them as a packaged deal--almost as one person. It was always "Repy and Mopey!" I remember riding in the car with them when they ran errands. I thought that was the highlight of the day--seeing them in action and the way they communicated with each other! It was uncanny to me how much my mom looked so much like them. I was mesmerized! But then again, all of the Kidd sisters look alike. There is a strong family resemblance. I remember when I first had Aunt Repy's one-pot spaghetti. What a treat!! I had never had the sauce and noodles mixed together before. I wondered, "Does my mom know about this one-pot thing?" It was sooo delicious! The thing about my aunts (all of them) is that they always treated us--the cousins--like we were all their children. It makes you proud to be a Kidd! I want to thank my cousins Ronald, Teresa, and Shawn for always taking care of their mom and I want to especially thank Teresa and Latanya for taking care of my aunts as if they were both their mothers!!!
