Obituary For Ms. Whakitha Mishawn Lewis
Ms. Whakitha Mishawn Lewis, also known as “Kiki” was born September 20,1970, in Corona, Queens NY. Kiki was the second oldest of the remaining six, out of ten children, to the late Leon Baruch Browne and Mary Elizabeth Moore Browne in Lanark, WV.
Although Kiki suffered for many years waring with kidney failure, she was a warrior and a survivor no matter the setbacks … she always bounced back. Sadly, to say she lost that battle as she slept so sound in her barrowed bed and drifted into a deep sleep…peacefully slipping away during the nine o’clock hour at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV on the day of November 30, 2019.
At an early age her grandmother made sure her family was covered under the blood of Jesus. she taught and brought all her children and grandchildren up in the Bible based Mt. Gerizim Holy Church on Northern Boulevard in Corona, NY. She believed in the scriptures: Proverbs 22:6 “train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it”. Kiki’s love of God was transparent and she accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior.
During her childhood, she attended elementary and middle school up until her upper grades, where went to Job Corp. After the passing of their father in the late eighties, Kiki moved to with her mother and her siblings. Their she met her husband, had two children, became a grandmother of four grand-babies, who they call “Mah Mah”. she enjoyed baby-sitting them just as much as she did shoping.
As a beautiful strong-willed daughter, sister, friend, mother, and grandmother, Kiki was happy and joyous. She was a very funny and humorous woman, full of witty comebacks with a swift and blunt tongue. She was also driven and very persistent in her ways. She touched so many lives and will be missed.
Kiki leaves to cherish precious memories two children: Steve and Sierra. four grand-babies, London, Paris, King Tylin, and Princeton. six siblings, Rodney, Noel, Leon, Jonik, Kizzy, and John; amazing aunties, Carolyn, Joanne, Betty, Patty, Melvina, Barbra, Eunice, and Belinda and a host of uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended church family. Special thanks to the wonderful Carolyn Crider for her consistent active phone calls to Kiki and to both her caregivers, daughter, Sierra Lewis who attended her bedside, bed-bathe and tidied up and the devoted Joanne Poole for her outpouring support in everything under the sun!
Memorial service will be 11:00AM Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 142 Mool Ave. Beckley with Rev. Nelson Staples lll officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
