Obituary For Rev. Donald D. Cook

Rev. Donald David Cook, 70, of Beckley, went to be with the Lord Tuesday June 28, 2022 in Tennessee on Hospice surrounded by loved ones.

Donald was born May 25, 1952 at home in Clearfork, WV, he was the son of the late Andy Lee and Reva L. Cook.

Donald was known for his big smile and love for the Lord. His whole life, he devoted himself to serving the Lord and loving all.

He served many years as Reverend at New Salem Baptist Church. He worked 171/2 years in the coal mines and retired from Raleigh County Solid Waste after 11 years.

Donald leaves behind a legacy of devotion, caring, spiritual guidance, and dedication to his family, friends, church family and the community.

Donald, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne; brothers, Charles, Stanley, Erskine, Lester ā€œDā€, and Delbert, all of Beckley, sisters, Theresa and Elaine, also of Beckley.

Donald leaves behind to cherish precious memories his son, Dwaine Heath; daughter, Abril Dixon; close family, Sheila Carey; grandchildren, Onalycia Woodson, Nikki Carey, Jalen Mack and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Sky Ministries 815 S. Fayette St. Beckley with Rev. William Fruit officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service.

    I am so sad to hear of Donald's passing. I worked with him at Montcoal. He was one of the finest people I had the privilege to work with. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I'm sure he will be missed by many. RIP Donald.
