Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Rev. Earl Jackson, 65, of Beckley, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 following a long illness.

Born February 20, 1953 in Beckley, he was the son of the late George B. Gray Jackson and Willie V. Hayes Jackson.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church under the late Rev. J.L. Bly, where he was licensed to preach the gospel in March 1979 and ordained to do the work of the gospel ministry under the pastor of the late O.T. Moore.

During his ministry he pastored the following WV Churches: Collins Temple Baptist Church, Winding Gulf, First Baptist Church, Greentown, Second Baptist Church, Talcott, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Beardsfork and First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church Glen Jean. He was an active member of the West Virginia Baptist State Convention, where he served as president of the Ministers and Deacons Auxiliary, as well as chairman of the State Evangelism Board.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Fowlkes Jackson; two brothers, Letcher H. Gray Jackson and Samuel Gray Jackson.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his sons, George Jackson and Bruce (Brandi) Jackson of Beckley and Earl (Aretha) Jackson Jr. of Winston Salem, NC; two special cousins: Quincy A. Madison and Frankie Motley, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; special friend, Rev. John Burnett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Monday, October 1, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church, 304 Worley Road, Beckley, with Rev. Frank Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
