Obituary For Rev. Stanley Forrest Blanks

Rev. Stanley Forrest Blanks went home Friday, May 22, 2020 following a long illness.

Born February 3, 1958 in Oak Hill, WV, he was the son of the late George Lenzy Sterling Blanks and Shelva Louise Marie Blanks.

Stanley was a loving husband and devoted father; a man of God who began preaching at the age of 18. Preaching for 44 years, Stanley also loved to hunt, fish and always wanted to grill. He also did karate for over 30 years. He could always tell you where scriptures were in the Bible; loved talking about the Bible and always talked about God. When preaching, he could do it even if it was spare of the moment.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis M. Blanks and brother, George L. Blanks Jr.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Mary E. Blanks; two sons, Nathaniel Blanks of Ronceverte and Micah Blanks of Fairmont; stepdaughter, Ashley (CJ) Persinger of Daniels; brothers, George A. Blanks of OH Phillip M. Blanks of NC and Kenneth L. (Cheryl) Blanks of CO; sisters, Shelva M. (Tyrone) Gwinn of NC and Joyce Blanks of Harlem Heights; one granddaughter, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 12:00Noon, Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 South Kanawha St., Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating.

Stanley and I have been friends since 2nd grade when our schools were integrated. As innocent children we did not understand all the hype, we simply made life-long friends. There are many great things to say about Stanley but I'll be brief: he was a great man and the world is a little darker without him. He is healed and has seen Jesus' face, I pray for everyone here who loves him as he will be so missed.

I remember Stan eating a plain baked potato. (No butter or sour cream). I still gag thinking about him eating that dry potato.
