Obituary For Rev. Thomas R. Murray Sr.

Rev. Thomas R. Murray Sr., 95, of Montgomery, WV died peacefully Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the home of his daughter/caretaker,Tina (Jerome) Burs.

Born June 29, 1926 in Glen Ferris, WV, he was the son of the late Hampton and Callie Murray.

He was married to the late Karolyn Katherine White Murray.

He was the former Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Harper Heights, Beckley, US Army Retired SFC E5 and He was a member of American Legion LaFayette Post 149, Fayetteville, WV.

In addition to his parents, wife, brother and sisters and he was predeceased by his daughter, Alberta K. Casey, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Murray; grandsons, John L. Casey, Jr., Kevin L. Palmer, Chad Parker, and Samuel Crosby, III and sons-in-law, Leonard C. Bailey and George H. Palmer

Left to cherish precious memories are his sons, Bishop Calvin (Eletha) Murray of Monroe, LA, Marshall (Leigh Ann) Murray of Beckley, WV and Bishop Thomas (Arnise) Murray, Jr. of Montgomery, WV; daughters, Tina (Jerome) Burs of Montgomery, WV, Kathy (Glenn) Burs of Smithers, WV, Stacy (Minister Larry) Medcalf of South Point, OH, Jennifer Bailey and Stephanie Murray, both of Charlotte, NC; 32 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Brookside Ministries COGIC Inc, Mount Carbon, WV with Bishop Thomas R. Murray Jr. and Marshall K. Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
